Ubot Flat Slab – A Technology Solution for Various Types of Construction Projects

Ubot Flat Slab is becoming increasingly popular as it can be applied to a wide variety of large and small construction projects both domestically and internationally. With outstanding features compared to traditional slab systems, Ubot flat slabs are increasingly preferred by investors as a construction solution for specialized projects with highly demanding requirements. Ubot Flat Slab is a flat slab system consisting of Ubot boxes arranged in aligned rows, interconnected by connecting bars and embedded within the concrete slab. These components create voids and I-shaped beams arranged perpendicular to one another. Therefore, the thickness of this type of slab depends on the calculated span and load requirements. Accordingly, different Ubot box types are used for different slab thicknesses and spans. 

The Ubot box (Ubot hollow-forming box) – the main component used to create this type of flat slab – is made from recycled polypropylene plastic. It is a formwork solution that creates a voided slab system with a flat underside and no beams, allowing for large spans.

The Ubot box was first transferred to Vietnam in 2012 by Daliform Group (Italy) to Lam Pham Construction Co., Ltd. It replaced outdated traditional lightweight flooring methods as well as addressing many issues that had not been thoroughly resolved.

To date, the Ubot flat slab solution has been implemented in thousands of construction works and projects of various scales, including social housing, shopping centers, high-rise apartment buildings, townhouses, factories, and conventional civil construction projects.

2. Ubot Flat Slab Applications in Social Housing Projects 

Under the 2014 Housing Law, social housing refers to housing supported by the State for eligible groups entitled to housing assistance policies. Therefore, social housing is developed to provide affordable housing for certain priority groups.

Simply put, social housing is a housing supply within a locality or country whose prices, floor areas, and amenities are suitable for the majority of residents and workers. People with average incomes can still rent, purchase, rent-to-own, or buy on an installment basis under this type of housing arrangement. 

Because social housing is designed to meet residents’ usage needs and financial capacity, investors developing social housing projects must carefully consider their choice of materials. Specifically, they need construction materials that are reasonably priced while still ensuring structural integrity, safety, optimized functionality, and cost efficiency.

Ubot flat slabs are also certified as an environmentally friendly material solution. Therefore, when this flat slab technology is applied to large-scale social housing projects with numerous apartments, both environmental protection and the sustainability criteria of the project can be ensured. 

Thanks to the benefits provided by Ubot flat slabs, many social housing projects in Vietnam have quickly adopted this material solution. Notable projects include Cát Tường Smart City Social Housing and Ecohome Phúc Lợi, among others.

3. Ubot Flat Slab Applications in Shopping Centers and High-Rise Apartment Buildings
