RECYCLING PLASTIC WASTE IS NO LONGER A HEADACHE WHEN THE OUTPUT IS LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

In recent years, the impact of plastic waste on the environment has become increasingly serious. People's habit of using plastic bags and single-use plastics is gradually destroying their own living environment. The challenge of recycling plastic waste has never been more urgent or challenging for generations. However, if the output of plastic waste recycling is “lightweight construction materials”, the story is different!

1. The environmental burden caused by plastic waste

More than 100 years ago, Leo Hendrick Baekeland developed the first mass-produced plastic, known as Bakelite. The rapid development of plastic products has brought great convenience to people, but it has also become a source of direct threats to the Earth and human life itself.

According to statistics as of 2015, approximately 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste had been generated worldwide, of which only 9% was recycled. Plastic bags can take up to 100 years to decompose, while plastic bottles can take up to 200 years. At the current rate of plastic consumption, it is estimated that by 2050, approximately 13 billion tons of plastic waste will be landfilled or discharged into the oceans.

Vietnam currently ranks fourth among the countries in the world that discharge the most waste into the sea, at approximately 1.8 million tons per year. If an appropriate solution is not found soon, living “together” with plastic waste will be unavoidable in the future.

2. Lightweight construction materials: A new direction for plastic waste recycling

With the development of science and technology, as well as growing awareness of environmental protection, many successful plastic waste recycling models have been developed.

Successful models around the world

  • 🌍 United Kingdom: Plastic is recycled into MR6 material for road paving, providing 60% better quality and 10 times the lifespan of conventional asphalt.
  • 🌍 Russia: Scientists recycle plastic waste into a base material for producing fuel and petroleum products.
  • 🌍 UNICEF: Collaborating to produce bricks from recycled plastic for school construction in Africa. These bricks are fire-resistant, 40% cheaper, 20% lighter, and have a lifespan of hundreds of years.

In Vietnam, LPC (Lam Pham Construction) currently owns the LPC Plastic factory, which produces construction materials from recycled plastic using a modern production line. Some notable products include UBOT void-forming boxes, the LPDome one-way slab solution, and the Pratopratico grass protection solution…

3. Lightweight construction materials: Paving the way for the “green construction” trend

Lightweight construction materials made from recycled plastic are opening up a new direction for the construction industry. Statistical data shows that these products are not inferior in quality and may even outperform conventional products, while also addressing environmental issues.

LPC is proud to provide Ubot void-forming boxes – a lightweight flat slab solution that saves construction materials in non-load-bearing concrete areas.

Benefits of Ubot slabs:
  • Reduce slab weight by 10% – 30%.
  • Improve sound and thermal insulation.
  • Save 10% - 15% of total construction costs.
  • Save on storage, transportation, and labor costs.

LPC always believes that economic development should and must go hand in hand with environmental protection. Trading economic benefits for environmental destruction is never the right choice. We strive to create products that meet quality standards while being environmentally friendly!
