Vietnam – South Korea structural solutions forum

On the afternoon of June 22, 2018, Korea Associate of Structure Engineering Manufacture (KASEM) and CTBUH Korea organized the “Vietnam – South Korea Structural Solutions Forum” in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

“Vietnam – South Korea Structural Solutions Forum” was held on the second day of the five-day international Vietbuild exhibition at SECC in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. With the participation of many construction companies and building materials companies, the forum was attended by investors, business owners, engineers, and visitors to the international Vietbuild exhibition.

The “Vietnam – South Korea Structural Solutions Forum” brought together Korean and Vietnamese business owners who shared structural solutions.

During the forum, the Korean side also shared information on design issues for high-rise concrete buildings, addressing 6 main topics:

• Design issues for high-rise concrete buildings - Dr. Chung Kwang Ryang, Director of Dong Yang Structural Engineering Group.
• New concrete model: Steel plate slab - Mee Ok Shim – Overseas Sale & Export Team Manager/ Duckshin Housing.
• Introduction to pile and soil improvement methods - II-Wook Son. Overseas Sale Manager/ EXT.
• Paper form – environmentally friendly round piles and commercialization with new technology - Lee, Jae Seung, Overseas Manager/ EPI Limited.
• Applications of post-tensioning techniques for high-rise buildings - Park, Jungwoo, Deputy Director/ Dong Yang Structural Engineering Group.

The forum concluded with a discussion, sharing session, and Q&A addressing questions from investors, business owners, and guests about unclear issues, with further emphasis on the advantages and disadvantages of different solutions.

The forum not only focused on sharing knowledge with everyone, but also provided an opportunity for all participating guests to connect and gain a better understanding of structural solutions in particular and the construction industry in general.
