Seminar on Ubot flat slab and self-compacting concrete solutions organized by the Lam Dong Department of Construction in coordination with LBM and LPC

On June 8, the Lam Dong Department of Construction, in coordination with Lam Dong Minerals and Building Materials Joint Stock Company, organized a seminar on Ubot flat slab and self-compacting concrete solutions.

At the seminar, investors and construction contractors in Lam Dong Province learned about the outstanding features of Ubot slabs and self-compacting concrete, as well as the effectiveness of applying self-compacting concrete in the construction of Ubot slabs.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Lam Minh Duc – Director of Lam Pham Construction Co., Ltd. (LPC), introduced the Ubot slab solution and its outstanding advantages, including:

• Ability to achieve large spans.
• Open architecture (with the ability to achieve spans of up to 20 m, creating spacious areas for buildings).
• Beamless flat slab.
• Reduced thickness of the beam-and-slab system.
• Increased number of floors; improved sound and thermal insulation.
• Reduced slab weight by 10–30% compared with conventional slabs.
• Reduced foundation dimensions; environmentally friendly.
• Reduced electromechanical costs.

Accordingly, Ubot construction can save 10–15% of the total construction cost. At the seminar, investors and construction contractors in Lam Dong Province learned about the outstanding features of Ubot slabs and self-compacting concrete, as well as the effectiveness of applying self-compacting concrete in the construction of Ubot slabs.

In Vietnam, Ubot has been transferred and developed by Lam Pham Construction Co., Ltd. (LPC) since 2012. Currently, in Lam Dong Province, Ubot products are exclusively distributed and applied by LBM. This is a breakthrough solution that delivers economic efficiency while meeting the stringent requirements of the construction industry.

Combining Ubot slabs with self-compacting concrete further optimizes the construction and use of building structures. Self-compacting concrete is a product of LBM. According to LBM's leadership, this product has high flowability and is designed for constructing complex structures, densely reinforced structures, arch-shaped structures, thin shells, structures that cannot be directly compacted, and structures requiring a high-quality finished surface, while reducing the number of workers required.

To ensure self-compacting capability, concrete not only needs appropriate workability but also a certain viscosity because the concrete must flow easily through the reinforcement and can be pumped over distances of up to 500 m.

Therefore, according to LBM's representative at the seminar, the concrete must have a flow spread diameter greater than or equal to 60 cm. Self-compacting concrete is one of the types of high-quality concrete. Therefore, producing this concrete requires VSI cone-processed crushed stone, with particle sizes ranging from 5–20 mm, various mineral admixtures (silica fume, fly ash, etc.), and high-quality chemical admixtures.

Self-compacting concrete has demonstrated many advantages, such as fast construction, reduced noise from compaction, time savings, and environmental friendliness…

LBM Chairman of the Board of Directors Le Dinh Hien stated that, as an LPC partner and a producer of self-compacting concrete, LBM's goal is to affirm product quality. Therefore, we continue to improve technical requirements to meet the requirements of investors and customers, especially projects using state budget funds and residential projects.

Mr. Nguyen Dung, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Construction, also affirmed that the Department strongly supports the application of this new technology in construction.
