Seminar: “Creative Startup Idea Competition to Solve Local and Large Enterprise Problems (Hackathon)

In 2020, the National Innovative Startup Day TECHFEST VIETNAM continued with the theme “Adaptation – Transformation – Breakthrough”. The 2020 theme continued the message of previous TECHFEST years, helping connect domestic and international resources and supporting startups in the context of consecutive outbreaks of disease and natural disasters.

In these difficult circumstances, with the support of economic organizations and the Vietnamese government, many startups continued to promote the “entrepreneurial spirit”, constantly innovate, create, and remain ready to face challenges. Many businesses achieved breakthrough development, not only increasing revenue and market share but also contributing to safe and effective disease prevention efforts and promoting innovation through their advanced solutions.

TECHFEST 2020 was designed to include 12 Technology Villages: Smart City, Agriculture, Education, Healthcare, Tourism and Cuisine, Finance, Social Impact, Pioneering, Support Services, Students, Localities, and International, with more than 250 booths.

In addition to the Technology Villages following the previous model, TECHFEST 2020 established the Pioneering Technology Village. These technologies have a high level of intellectual property content and require in-depth research, such as AI, Blockchain, Biotechnology, and New Materials. These technologies were introduced with the aim of enhancing innovative startups’ access to technology through advanced technological solutions from around the world.

Unlike previous years, TECHFEST 2020 focused on students. They represent a major potential resource for startups, with a diverse range of innovative ideas. To promote the entrepreneurial and creative spirit among students, TECHFEST 2020 launched the Creative Startup Idea Competition to Solve Local and Large Enterprise Problems.

In addition, with the desire to focus on sharing and discussing financial policies for startups, digital transformation and innovation, training high-quality human resources, and solutions to improve the ecosystem for young entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Economics University invited Architect Dinh Viet Tung – Director of the Planning & Architecture Office of LPC France – Director of the Sustainable Urban Development Network-SUDNet AVSE Global (Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global) to be the main speaker of the program.

Discussion with Smart City Urban Planning Expert – Architect Dinh Viet Tung

With many years of experience in consulting on socio-economic development planning for provinces and cities in Vietnam, as well as developing workshops & training courses related to Eco-Cities, Smart Cities & Sustainable Urban Development solutions – AVSE Global – Association of Vietnamese Scientists & Experts Global, Architect Dinh Viet Tung shared with students of the National Economics University his innovative thinking in the field of Smart Cities – an inevitable trend that many developing countries are pursuing to ensure sustainability in the current urbanization process.

According to Mr. Tung, a vision and development orientation for smart cities is particularly necessary, especially as the pace of urbanization continues to accelerate. When designing smart cities, it is necessary to connect regional territories scientifically to create uniform growth and mutual support; connect smart infrastructure toward digitalization, creating momentum for future growth. During the live discussion with students of the National Economics University in Hanoi, Architect Dinh Viet Tung shared his experience in building and developing smart cities in the region. At the same time, Architect Dinh Viet Tung presented development orientations and success factors, as well as outlined challenges that startups may face. This helped startups and students gain an overview of Smart Cities in the future, contributing to nurturing creativity among young people, as set out in the goal of the “Creative Startup Idea Competition to Solve Local and Large Enterprise Problems.”
