Promoting the trend of green construction – people are becoming more concerned about the environment

Green buildings, also known as “green construction,” are a trend that construction stakeholders are implementing and pursuing today. The green construction trend is not only environmentally friendly but also helps save natural resources and protect the surrounding environment.

1. The construction industry is changing – green construction is on the rise

Green construction is still a relatively new concept in Vietnam, but it has been implemented for many years in countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea... With rapid urbanization, high-rise buildings are emerging rapidly, bringing with them environmental pollution and resource consumption. In response to this situation, the Party and State have introduced policies encouraging the use of green materials.

2. Green construction brings long-term benefits to life

The construction industry currently consumes a large amount of energy and resources while also generating approximately one-fifth of environmental emissions. The transition to a new construction model helps limit energy consumption, reduce emissions, provide cleaner air, and improve people's health. In the long term, green buildings provide financial benefits and extend the service life of buildings.

3. What needs to be done to promote the development of green construction?

The excessive use of heavy materials such as iron and steel causes resource waste, high costs, and transportation difficulties. Instead, we can use alternative green materials.

What are green construction materials?

Green construction materials must meet the following criteria:

• ✅ Long service life.
• ✅ Reduce environmental pollution.
• ✅ Conserve natural resources.
• ✅ Recyclable.

A Swiss study shows that buildings using green materials can save three-quarters of the electricity used and reduce electricity consumption by more than 25% per m² during the construction process.

4. Ubot flat slab – green construction material being applied in Vietnam
