OUTSTANDING EXAMPLES ON THE FRONT LINES OF COVID-19 PREVENTION AND CONTROL

The pandemic is becoming increasingly complex, having a profound impact on the health and lives of people, with difficulties piling up. At this time, the Government – State and the pandemic prevention and control forces across the country always need encouragement and the support of every citizen.

During this difficult period, LPC has also not stood outside this harsh battle. Many businesses are “frozen” because of the pandemic and “struggling” because of social distancing, but LPC has been more fortunate as projects continue to come in one after another. In addition, with the desire to accompany the Government in pandemic prevention and control activities, LPC employees have not hesitated in the face of difficulties and hardships, bringing small contributions with big hearts.

The Enthusiasm of an “Architect”

“Because the nature of the work is extremely urgent and the city is in a state of high alert, I do not have much time to think and make a choice. Partly because I was assigned, and partly because I wanted to participate in pandemic prevention and control efforts, I am writing this email to respectfully ask the Board of Directors to continue supporting and creating conditions for me to contribute my efforts to the City and the Country.”

These are the words shared by young Architect Nguyễn Huy Hoàng – an employee of Lam Pham Construction Company Limited – Saigon Office.

In light of the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City during the past period, and in response to the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to strengthen personnel for pandemic prevention efforts, Hoàng set out to perform his duties.

For nearly a month, while carrying out his duties with the rapid response team of the city's 115 Emergency Center, his responsibilities included working at the hotline, coordinating and transporting equipment onto ambulances; manning emergency lockdown checkpoints, entering information from rapid testing samples, and now directly participating in duties at Trưng Vương Hospital, one of the frontline hospitals for Covid-19 treatment.

Despite the hardships, Hoàng tried to arrange his time to both carry out his professional work at home and participate in pandemic prevention and control activities alongside reserve mobilization forces and volunteers. In extremely difficult circumstances, Hoàng and the volunteers remained cheerful and optimistic, encouraging doctors, medical staff, and pandemic prevention and control forces. There was discomfort, there was love, and there were emotions and shared feelings..

During the course of their duties, Hoàng and his teammates always reminded each other to strictly follow regulations and instructions to prevent cross-community infection and protect themselves.

“A soldier for one day, a soldier for life” – Hoàng shared.

The LPC Board of Directors strongly supports and welcomes Hoàng's spirit of volunteerism and enthusiasm in frontline pandemic prevention and control activities. We hope that the spirit shown by Hoàng and the volunteers will continue to spread, creating great community strength and contributing to the collective effort to soon push back Covid-19.

Diligent Delivery Workers

LPC, in coordination with ManMo Vietnam and the Sourire de Paris French Bakery System, launched the “Bread Is Meant to Be Eaten” Fund – 1,000 free loaves of bread are given to people every day at locations throughout Hanoi.

The program was launched in the days before the capital implemented social distancing, with fixed distribution points at Trường Chinh – Minh Khai – Trích Sài, and received the attention of many local residents.

When Hanoi implemented 15 days of social distancing under Directive 16/TTg, the group continued to coordinate with the District Red Cross Societies; the University of Medicine Hospital; the Children's Protection Fund; and centralized quarantine sites in order to deliver their “small contribution” to the people…

At this time, many of us may have been WFH (working from home) to stay safe during the pandemic. Meanwhile, LPC and the volunteer group continued traveling along the roads to personally deliver support to people in difficult circumstances. The gifts may be small, but they carry the hope and faith of LPC – the volunteer group and partner organizations, with the wish: “Together, we can push back Covid – Vietnam will win the pandemic”

The program is still being implemented, with the hope of receiving the support of benefactors alongside LPC and the participating organizations to carry out this program in the best possible way.
